Our History and Destiny: The Pursuit of Happiness 1766-2026
Who has the right to pursue happiness in America? Hear form artists, historians, legal experts, advocates and writers about the challenges – past and present – of living out founding ideals?
The all-day workshop coincides with Grounds for Sculpture’s current exhibition, “Salvador Jiménez-Flores: Raíces & Resistencias.”
The plenary session will be a moderated discussion between distinguished artists Nell Irwin Painter and Victor Davson, preceded by a poetry reading by Filipino American poet and essayist Patrick Rosal.
Afternoon panels will focus on the American history
of dealing with migration and immigration –
whether voluntary or forced – and on issues and responses
related to current immigration trends.
