SUMMARY:The Battle of Monmouth Courthouse: The Last Great Revolutionary War
  Battle in the North
DESCRIPTION:\nThe Battle of Monmouth Courthouse (June 28\, 1778) was the la
rgest field artillery battle of the Revolutionary War and was the last sig
nificant battle fought on northern soil during that conflict. More widely
known for the legend of Molly Pitcher and the dispute between Generals Geo
rge Washington and Charles Lee\, the battle is\, to this very day\, often
misunderstood and overlooked in its significance. This presentation will p
rovide an overview of the Battle of Monmouth and will conclude with a brie
f discussion of the history of Monmouth Battlefield State Park and the lat
est research being done by the current custodians of the battlefield’s h
 istoric legacy.\nPresented by Victor Pidermann\, a Resource Interpretive S
pecialist – Historian with New Jersey State Parks (Department of Environ
mental Protection). He has served as a historian at Monmouth Battlefield S
tate Park (Manalapan\, NJ) and Washington Crossing State Park (Titusville\
, NJ)\, and he has been researching and interpreting the Battle of Monmout
h for nearly eleven years. \n\nRegistration with an email is required\, s
o we can send you a link to connect through GoToMeeting. You will receive
the link approximately 24 hours before the program.
