DESCRIPTION:Freedom on the Move is a database of North American newspaper a
 dvertisements placed by enslavers and jailers. Learn how to transcribe the
  “runaway ads” that were printed in newspapers by those who claimed pe
 ople as their property. Taken collectively\, the ads constitute a detailed
 \, concise\, and rare source of information about the experiences of ensla
 ved people.\n\nParticipants are encouraged to bring a laptop\; a limited n
 umber are available on site.\n\nUnearthing History\, One Page at a Time is
  a collaborative transcription series where volunteers convert historical 
 documents into searchable digital text\, supporting researchers\, genealog
 ists\, and the preservation of history for future generations.\n\nThis pro
 gram takes place on Saturday\, June 13 at 10:30 am at the Hopewell Branch 
 Library.\n\nRegistration is requested.
