DESCRIPTION:Discover American history through the daily lives of four women
 : Anne “Nancy” Hume Shippen Livingston\, Rebecca Lloyd Nicholson\, Mar
 garet Bayard Smith\, and Anna Maria Brodeau Thornton.  You'll access the
  Library of Congress' By The People campaign to transcribe letters\, dia
 ries\, commonplace books\, and other papers. These elite women recorded fi
 rst-hand experiences of the new political landscape caused by the American
  Revolution and the foundation of the new American republic\, all while th
 eir lives remained circumscribed by the prevailing social order.\n\nPartic
 ipants are encouraged to bring a laptop\; a limited number are available o
 n site.\n\nUnearthing History\, One Page at a Time is a collaborative tra
 nscription series where volunteers convert historical documents into searc
 hable digital text\, supporting researchers\, genealogists\, and the prese
 rvation of history for future generations.\n\nThis program takes place on 
 Monday\, May 11 at 6:30 pm at the Hopewell Branch Library.\n\nRegistration
  is requested.
