{"id":3953,"date":"2026-03-26T15:47:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T19:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/place\/watson-house\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T14:55:26","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T18:55:26","slug":"watson-house","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/place\/watson-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Watson House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"expandableItem\">The Isaac Watson House is the headquarters of the New Jersey State Society of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. <\/span><span class=\"expandableItem\">It is located just outside the state capital of Trenton in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey. <\/span><span class=\"expandableItem\">It is situated on a bluff overlooking Watson&#8217;s Creek and the Abbott Farm National Historic Landmark in John A. <\/span><span class=\"expandableItem\">Roebling Park, a 257-acre nature preserve. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"expandableItem\">Built by Isaac Watson in 1708, the stone house is recognized as the oldest house in Mercer County. <\/span><span class=\"expandableItem\">Originally 800 acres, the grounds at one time ran from the bluff to the Delaware River. <\/span><span class=\"expandableItem\">The building was restored by Margaret G. <\/span><span class=\"expandableItem\">Finley and the DAR Founders Committee as part of the New Jersey Tercentenary Celebration in 1964<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3954,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"place_category":[17],"place-tag":[],"class_list":["post-3953","place","type-place","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","place_category-history"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/place\/3953","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/place"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/place"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/3954"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3953"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"place_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/place_category?post=3953"},{"taxonomy":"place-tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/250.mercercountynj.gov\/visit\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/place-tag?post=3953"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
